GENTLEMAN JAG

GENTLEMAN JAG

travels behind
his ornament, Leaper,
and trails a quiet growl –
steward of a tradition,
the driver’s car.

An improbable match –
performance car, tires and gas
with slowing owner who,
when performing at peak
was behind a desk
or in front of a class.

But talent is not required,
maybe passion
to share Jaguar
beauty, panache and
performance.

Can I give you a ride?
And can you abide
the scenic route
from here to there?
Unlike some, I’m in no hurry
to get out of my car.

For what could be better, indeed,
there . . . than here . . . inside
a car that’s fun to drive
at any speed?

Alas, the snag.
Jags exercise many faculties
but mine has yet to burn
any of my calories.
